Schools Close in Galiyat Due to Severe Snowfall

In response to heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions, authorities have announced the closure of schools in Galiyat for four days. This decision, according to an official notification from the Education Department, comes as snowfall and rain continue to disrupt Murree, Galiyat, and nearby regions. Power outages are reported in several areas, including Nathia Gali, Ayubia, Thandiani, and Changla Gali.

Galiyat Development Authority Director General Shahrukh Ali mentioned that relief efforts are underway. Teams are working on road clearance operations to reopen the main highway connecting Abbottabad and Murree.

Given the severe weather, authorities have restricted tourist entry and advised visitors to avoid traveling to the region. Law enforcement personnel are stationed at checkpoints to turn back vehicles.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecasted rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas from March 2 to 4.

Officials assured that rescue teams are actively assisting stranded individuals and working to restore access to the affected areas.
