Pakistan Moves Toward Unified Digital Recruitment System in Public Sector
The federal government has launched a comprehensive review of IT-based recruitment applications used by ministries and divisions to streamline hiring processes.
In a directive issued by the Establishment Division, federal ministries, attached departments, and subordinate offices have been asked to submit details of their digital recruitment tools, including those operated by third-party vendors.
The initiative aims to assess the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of existing recruitment platforms. Officials familiar with the development indicate that this exercise is part of broader e-governance reforms focused on modernizing public sector hiring.
Currently, multiple departments rely on different software solutions for managing job applications, leading to inefficiencies. The government is now exploring the feasibility of a unified digital recruitment system, which could standardize hiring protocols, reduce administrative burdens, and improve fairness in selection processes.
As part of this review, key ministries—including Science and Technology, IT and Telecom, Industries and Production, Finance, Energy, Education, Health, Climate Change, Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Defence—have been directed to share details of their recruitment software.
Sources suggest that once data is compiled, the government may introduce official guidelines or establish a centralized platform for recruitment, paving the way for a more digitized and transparent hiring framework. If successful, the initiative could set a precedent for provincial governments and autonomous bodies to adopt similar reforms in the future.
