National CERT Warns Against Sharing Military-Related Content Amid Security Concerns

Amid escalating tensions in the Indo-Pak region, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued an advisory urging media professionals, social media users, and digital creators to exercise caution when sharing military-related content.

The advisory highlights the security risks associated with the circulation of videos, images, and discussions revealing troop movements and sensitive operations. Such disclosures—whether intentional or accidental—can compromise national security, expose strategic intelligence, and aid adversaries in surveillance or sabotage efforts.

National CERT also warns of the growing threat of misinformation, disinformation, and deepfakes, which can distort public perception, fuel instability, and escalate regional tensions. The advisory applies not only to professional journalists but also to influencers and general users, emphasizing that everyone has a role in responsible digital communication.

To mitigate risks, users are urged to refrain from sharing military footage, verify the authenticity of any visual content, and avoid posting real-time updates from sensitive locations. Compliance with national security laws is critical, as unauthorized disclosures can lead to legal consequences.

National CERT is further advocating awareness campaigns and workshops to foster a culture of caution in digital media. As cyber threats evolve, safeguarding operational security remains a collective responsibility.
