Orange Line Metro Train Lahore to Receive Major Infrastructure Overhaul
The Punjab government has officially launched a long-awaited restoration initiative for Lahore’s Orange Line Metro Train. Acting on directives from the Chief Minister, the Mass Transit Authority has been tasked with swiftly addressing the system’s deteriorating condition to enhance commuter safety and comfort.
After a two-year delay, the Finance Department has now been instructed to release over Rs. 500 million for urgent maintenance and rehabilitation. The focus will be on repairing critical infrastructure, particularly water, sanitation, and leakage systems across the network.
A recent report from the Mass Transit Authority revealed extensive issues, including 742 water leakage points, 24 areas with water accumulation, and 834 drainage-related concerns along the tracks and stations. Additionally, 68 wastewater disposal sites have been flagged for immediate attention.
The upgrade aims to restore operational efficiency and improve the daily travel experience for thousands of Lahore residents who rely on the metro system.
