Government Announces Reduced Electricity Costs for Low-Usage Consumers and Farmers
The federal government has unveiled a relief initiative for electricity consumers using up to 300 units and agricultural tube wells. This announcement was made by Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari.
The monthly fuel adjustment charges will be reduced for households consuming up to 300 units and for agricultural tube wells. This measure comes after the benefit of reduced charges was discontinued in June 2015 for low-usage consumers and even earlier in December 2010 for agricultural tube wells.
The Power Division has sent a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the reinstatement of these reduced charges. The aim is to ease the financial burden on farmers and households with limited electricity consumption.
This step will lead to lower monthly electricity bills for both agricultural tube wells and households using up to 300 units.
