University of Health Sciences Adopts Solar Energy for Cost Efficiency

 

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has announced its plan to switch both campuses to solar power, aiming to reduce electricity expenses.

This decision was finalized during the 58th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Justice (Retd) Sheikh Ahmad Farooq.

Project Details:

  • Cost: The solar energy project is estimated at Rs. 75 million.

  • Savings: Expected to save Rs. 55 million annually on electricity costs.

  • Funding: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allocated Rs. 20 million to support this initiative.

University Reforms:

During the meeting, UHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore presented the university's annual performance report, highlighting key reforms introduced over the past year. These include improvements in examination processes and admissions, as well as the transparent organization of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) and the implementation of a merit-based admissions system for both public and private medical colleges.
