Starlink Secures Approval to Revolutionize Internet Connectivity in Pakistan
In a groundbreaking move, the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Authority (PSARA) has granted Starlink a No Objection Certificate (NOC), signaling the company's readiness to launch its satellite-based internet services in Pakistan.
This approval follows clearance from the Ministry of Interior, marking a significant milestone for Starlink's operations in the country. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is expected to issue the final licenses within the next two weeks, enabling Starlink to officially commence its services.
Starlink has already completed three critical registration phases, including approvals from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and PSARA. The company has submitted detailed technical and business plans to the PTA, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and minimizing disruptions to existing networks.
Pakistan's proactive approach to satellite communication is evident through its National Satellite Policy introduced in 2023 and the Space Activities Rules implemented in 2024. These frameworks aim to strengthen the country's digital infrastructure and pave the way for advanced satellite-based connectivity.
With Starlink's entry, Pakistan is set to experience a transformative era in internet accessibility, bridging the digital divide and enhancing connectivity in remote and underserved regions.
