Samsung Set to Unveil Innovative Tri-Fold Smartphone this Summer

Samsung is preparing to make waves in the tri-fold smartphone market with a unique design approach, stepping ahead of competitors like Huawei. Unlike Huawei's Z-shaped fold on the Mate XT, Samsung's innovative G-shaped folding mechanism ensures that the display is fully protected when closed. This design, however, necessitates an additional cover display, which Huawei's model does not require.

Rumor has it that Samsung will debut its tri-fold device alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, potentially in July. Mass production is expected to commence in April, with Samsung sourcing the necessary components concurrently.

Key Specifications:

  • Main Display: 9.96 inches when fully unfolded, surpassing the size of current foldable smartphones and rivalling modern-day tablets.

  • Cover Display: 6.49 inches for regular smartphone use when folded.

Limited Production Run:

Samsung plans to produce only 200,000 units of its tri-fold device initially, suggesting a limited release in select markets. This cautious approach is similar to that of other experimental foldable devices in the past.

With foldable smartphones gaining momentum, Samsung's tri-fold device promises a more durable and practical design. Keep an eye out for more details as the anticipated July launch event approaches.
