Oppo A5 Pro Debuts Globally with Modified Features
Oppo has launched the A5 Pro internationally, offering a variant of its Chinese model from December. This global version features changes in chipset, display specifications, and durability, while maintaining Oppo’s signature design and software experience.
Design and Display
The Oppo A5 Pro (Global) sports a 6.67-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, in contrast to the Chinese model's 6.7-inch AMOLED. The panel provides 1,000 nits of peak brightness, enhancing readability in bright conditions.
Key highlights include an IP66/68/69 water and dust resistance rating and MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification. The global model also differs with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, compared to the under-display sensor of its Chinese counterpart.
Internals and Software
Powered by the Dimensity 6300 chipset, this global variant is a step down from the Chinese model’s Dimensity 7300. Available in 6 GB or 8 GB RAM variants with 128 GB or 256 GB storage, it runs on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15.
Cameras
The rear camera setup remains consistent with a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. However, the front camera is an 8MP sensor, unlike the 16MP selfie camera on the Chinese model.
Battery and Pricing
Equipped with a 5,800 mAh battery supporting 45W wired charging, the global model aims for extended battery life. The Chinese model, by comparison, has a Si/C Li-Ion 6,000 mAh battery with 80W wired charging.
Pricing for the global variant is set at $243 for the 6 GB/128 GB version and $290 for the 8 GB/256 GB model. The Chinese model’s higher-end variants will not be available internationally. The global variant is expected to reach multiple markets soon.
