Punjab Government Declares Health Emergency in Province
In response to escalating regional tensions and security concerns, the Punjab government has placed all public hospitals on high alert, ensuring emergency preparedness across medical institutions. Authorities have directed hospitals to allocate 50% of beds for urgent cases while postponing elective surgeries until further notice.
The provincial health department has instructed hospital administrations to maintain fully stocked medical supplies, including essential medicines, blood reserves, and surgical equipment. Additionally, healthcare professionals—doctors, nurses, paramedics, and support staff—are required to remain available around the clock.
To enhance emergency response, hospitals must confirm the operational readiness of vital medical equipment, while coordination efforts with rescue teams and local health authorities have been strengthened to facilitate swift patient transport and care.
In support of the initiative, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab has suspended its ongoing protest, with members pledging their assistance to emergency operations.
