Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Project Damaged in Indian Attack

A significant hydropower project in Pakistan has sustained damage following recent cross-border attacks. Military sources confirmed that the facility was targeted as part of a series of strikes that occurred overnight.

During a press briefing, a high-ranking military official stated that the attack on the hydropower project was part of a broader series of strikes on multiple locations. Concerns were raised about the intent behind targeting such critical infrastructure, with questions posed regarding the adherence to international laws of conflict.

The official detailed that the series of attacks also impacted civilian areas and places of worship in several locations, resulting in casualties, including women and children. Separately, civilian fatalities were also reported due to cross-border firing along the Line of Control. Attacks in other areas thankfully did not result in casualties or damage. The targeting of essential facilities and civilian sites was condemned as a violation of international norms.

Following the attacks, the nation's armed forces reportedly took immediate action to safeguard vital infrastructure. Government officials have described the targeting of the hydropower project as a dangerous escalation and have indicated their intention to address the issue through international channels.
