Pakistan Launches First-Ever 120KW EV Fast Charging Station
Pakistan has taken a significant leap towards clean energy with the launch of its first 120KW fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Islamabad. Developed by GoGreen Avenue, this project is a cornerstone for promoting sustainable transportation.
Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, inaugurated the station and commended the government's efforts to encourage eco-friendly initiatives. He also announced a substantial reduction in EV charging rates, lowering the cost from Rs. 71 to Rs. 39 per unit to make electric vehicles more accessible to the public.
The minister highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in driving green energy adoption. By advancing electric vehicle usage, the government aims to combat air pollution and lessen reliance on fossil fuels. GoGreen Avenue’s fast charging facility offers users swift recharging, making long-distance EV travel more practical and encouraging greater EV adoption.
This initiative aligns with Pakistan’s broader sustainability objectives, as the government plans to establish additional charging stations across the nation, fostering a reliable EV infrastructure. Experts predict that affordable charging solutions will stimulate the electric vehicle market, prompting automakers to produce more EV models locally.
The station’s inauguration represents Pakistan’s commitment to renewable energy and collaborative progress between government and private sectors, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.
