Microsoft in Advanced Talks to Acquire TikTok, Trump Confirms

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that Microsoft is in discussions to purchase TikTok. This development arises amid growing concerns in the United States about national security risks associated with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, which is based in China.

The U.S. government has expressed worries over the potential misuse of data collected from TikTok’s American users. To address these concerns, ByteDance has previously considered selling its U.S. operations. Despite earlier negotiations with companies like Microsoft and Oracle, no deal was finalized at that time.

Recently, interest in acquiring TikTok has surged. In addition to Microsoft, other potential buyers have emerged, including billionaire Frank McCourt, entrepreneur and investor Kevin O’Leary, and popular YouTuber MrBeast. Trump, while discussing the matter, emphasized the importance of a competitive bidding process and the need to remove Chinese ownership from TikTok’s U.S. operations to ensure the platform’s security.

As of now, neither Microsoft nor TikTok has commented on these ongoing discussions, leaving many details of the potential deal uncertain.
