K-Electric (KE) Organizes Customer Facilitation Camps Across Karachi
To enhance recovery efforts in historically defaulting areas and provide doorstep solutions for customer issues, K-Electric (KE) has organized over 40 Customer Facilitation Camps since the beginning of January 2025. These camps, located in regions such as Garden, Bahadurabad, New Karachi, Shah Faisal, Surjani, and Malir, aim to offer electricity-related services and encourage timely bill payments. This approach is crucial for reducing loadshedding and ensuring a consistent power supply in the affected areas.
As part of this initiative, an awareness march was held in the SITE industrial area and Orangi Town, led by Sadia Dada, Chief Distribution and Marketing Officer at KE. The march included interactions with local elected representatives and community leaders to discuss the program's benefits and the relief it offers to consumers.
"Our recovery camps are designed to make essential services more accessible and strengthen our partnership with communities. Timely payments not only address unpaid dues but also allow us to ensure a reliable power supply and reduce loadshedding in high-loss areas. Currently, 70% of KE's network is exempt from loadshedding while even in high-loss areas, the loadshedding does not exceed 10 hours," said Sadia Dada.
KE's anti-theft initiatives have also played a crucial role in addressing illegal electricity usage. Since the beginning of FY 24-25, over 143,000 illegal connections, totaling over 171,000 kilograms, have been removed.
KE conducts quarterly reviews of recovery profiles across its service areas to manage loadshedding effectively. In regions where power theft has decreased and bill recovery rates have improved, loadshedding durations have significantly reduced. Recent data indicates that improved recovery in areas such as Orangi Town, Shamsi Colony, and Empress Market has led to reduced loadshedding. This reflects KE's commitment to linking recovery performance with better electricity supply, as previously stated.
KE continues to empower communities by providing accessible services, promoting responsible electricity usage, and fostering stronger partnerships to ensure a brighter, more reliable future for all.
