Thousands of Kilos of Dead Chicken Meat Seized in Lahore
In a major food safety operation, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has confiscated 5,850 kilograms of unhealthy chicken meat at Tollinton Market. The crackdown, led by PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid alongside LDA DG Tahir Farooq, resulted in strict penalties for five businesses violating food safety regulations.
During the extensive inspection, PFA teams examined 21 poultry shops, warehouses, and transport vehicles, identifying 146.25 maunds of meat contaminated by infections and diseases such as eye infections, lung issues, and paralysis. The unsafe meat was immediately discarded to prevent public health risks.
Additionally, PFA’s Meat Safety Task Force imposed hefty fines on suppliers failing to meet hygiene standards. As part of its ongoing operations, PFA continues to monitor milk and meat supplies across Punjab to ensure consumer safety.
This initiative underscores the authority’s commitment to enforcing stringent food safety measures and protecting public health.
