Senators Receive Significant Salary Increase
The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue has approved a salary increase for Senators, raising their monthly pay to Rs. 519,000, effective January 1, 2025.
This decision was made during a two-day committee meeting chaired by Senator Syedaal Khan Nasar. The salary increase ensures that Senators' pay aligns with that of National Assembly members. However, the salaries for the Chairman Senate and Deputy Chairman will remain unchanged.
Key attendees at the meeting included Saleem Mandviwala, Shahadat Awan, and Liaquat Khan.
Recently, the federal government announced plans to raise the salaries of Federal Cabinet members, following the National Assembly's amendment bill to increase the basic salaries and allowances of MNAs and Senators. In December 2024, the Punjab Assembly also passed a bill to raise the salaries of its members, ministers, and parliamentary officials.
