At MWC 2025, Samsung Display showcased its latest breakthrough, the "Flexible Briefcase," a revolutionary foldable-screen laptop that doubles as a briefcase. This innovative device features an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display with QHD+ resolution (2,000 x 2,664 pixels) and a pixel density of 184 PPI, offering users a large, vibrant screen in a compact, foldable form factor.

Design and Display

The Flexible Briefcase captivates with its unique design. It has two handles that meet in the middle when closed, transforming the laptop into a portable briefcase. This clever design not only adds aesthetic appeal but also incorporates power and volume buttons, blending functionality with style.

When unfolded, the device reveals an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display, delivering sharp visuals and deep contrast levels. Although its 184 PPI pixel density is slightly lower than the 212 PPI of the Galaxy Book4 Ultra, the large screen size and foldable mechanism make it a standout, particularly for content creators and professionals.

A Glimpse Into the Future of Foldable Laptops

Samsung has been pioneering foldable-screen laptop concepts for years. The company patented a similar design in 2022, where the laptop folded twice, and previously introduced the Flex Note concept, which shares similarities with the Flexible Briefcase. Although still a prototype, this concept underscores Samsung’s dedication to advancing foldable technology.

Other brands, such as Lenovo, have also ventured into innovative laptop designs. For instance, Lenovo introduced a solar-powered concept capable of providing one hour of video playback after just 20 minutes of direct sunlight charging. However, like the Flexible Briefcase, these concepts remain experimental.

While there is no official word on the commercial availability of the Flexible Briefcase, the concept looks promising. If Samsung decides to bring it to market, it could redefine portable computing with its versatile foldable design.
