Pakistan’s IT Industry Hits Record $342 Million in March 2025 Exports
Pakistan’s IT sector reached a historic milestone in March 2025, achieving exports worth $342 million (PKR 95.6 billion). This marks a 12% growth compared to both the previous month and March 2024, showcasing the industry’s sustained upward trajectory over 18 consecutive months. Factors contributing to this impressive performance include heightened global demand, favorable government initiatives, and a stable exchange rate.
During the first nine months of FY2025, Pakistan’s total IT exports climbed to $2.8 billion (PKR 783 billion), reflecting a 24% increase compared to the same period last year. The government’s strategic measures, such as granting companies retention of foreign earnings and incentivizing international market investments, have significantly bolstered the industry’s presence on a global scale.
Looking ahead, experts predict that IT exports could reach $3.7 billion (PKR 1.03 trillion) by the end of FY2025. This growth underscores the sector’s critical role in Pakistan’s economy. As part of its ambitious "Uraan Pakistan" vision, the government aims to elevate annual IT exports to $10 billion (PKR 2.78 trillion) by 2029, harnessing technology and innovation to drive economic progress.
The surge in exports is a testament to the industry’s potential to generate jobs, strengthen foreign exchange reserves, and solidify Pakistan’s position in the global tech ecosystem.
