New Safari Park to Open in Islamabad Soon
The federal government has announced plans to establish a Safari Park in Islamabad, with an estimated cost of Rs. 10 billion.
The project, spearheaded by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), was unveiled by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during the inauguration of Serena Interchange.
Authorities initially considered Fatima Jinnah Park as a potential site but are now exploring alternative locations. Sources indicate that Naqvi, who previously oversaw the construction of a Safari Park in Lahore during his tenure as Punjab's chief minister, aims to create a similar attraction in the capital.
In a written response to MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, the interior minister informed the National Assembly that while the plan for the Safari Park is in place, construction has yet to begin. He mentioned that the project is expected to be completed within 18 months once work commences.
Meanwhile, the CDA has generated Rs. 129 billion from commercial plot auctions over the past five years. The revenue from these auctions is anticipated to support various development initiatives in the capital, including the Safari Park.
