The report highlights Pakistan's emergence as a notable player in the global Esports scene, with a rapidly growing community of gamers and professional teams. By the end of 2022, approximately 16% of the population, or around 36 million individuals, were engaged in gaming.

Government Support and Initiatives

The federal government's recognition of Esports as an industry through the E-Pak initiative in July 2021 has further accelerated its growth. The initiative aims to support game developers and players by organizing gaming events. The establishment of the Pakistan Esports Federation and support for local tournaments have created a favorable environment for the industry.

Infrastructure and Training Programs

In 2022, the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication announced plans to develop Esports infrastructure and training programs to nurture local talent. This support has been instrumental in fostering the growth of the Esports industry in Pakistan.

Global Recognition and Future Outlook

Around the world, 30 to 40 countries officially recognize Esports as an industry, providing legal protections and support for Esports athletes. The future of Esports in Pakistan looks promising, with factors like the increasing popularity of mobile gaming and the integration of blockchain technology and NFTs driving innovation and revenue streams.

Local and International Success

Pakistani Esports players have achieved notable success in global rankings, with players like Arslan Ash and Atif Butt making significant impacts. Local tournaments such as the Pak-China Esports Friendship Cup and the Dew Gamers Arena have further elevated the profile of Esports in Pakistan.

With a supportive government, growing community, and emerging opportunities, Esports is set to become an integral part of Pakistan's digital economy and cultural landscape.
