Meta Rolls Out AI Voice Translation for Reels on Facebook and Instagram
Meta has officially launched its AI-powered voice translation tool for Reels, enabling creators to automatically dub videos between English and Spanish. The feature, previously teased at Meta’s Connect 2024 event, is now available to Facebook creators with over 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts.
🎙️ How It Works
The tool uses advanced AI to:
• Translate spoken content between English and Spanish
• Clone the creator’s voice in the target language
• Optionally synchronize lip movements using facial alignment models
Creators can activate the feature during the publishing process by selecting “Translate your voice with Meta AI.” A preview of the dubbed version is available before posting, and each translated Reel will carry a disclosure label indicating it was AI-generated.
📊 Optimized for Engagement
Meta says the tool works best with face-to-camera videos featuring clear speech and minimal background noise. Translated Reels will be shown to viewers in their preferred language based on app settings, with an option to disable translation.
Creators will also gain access to language-specific engagement metrics, helping them analyze performance across multilingual audiences.
🌍 What’s Next
Currently supporting only English and Spanish, Meta plans to expand the feature to more languages and improve translation accuracy. Future updates may include support for web-based content and third-party uploads.
This move marks a significant step in making global content more accessible, allowing creators to reach wider audiences without duplicating production efforts.
