
IT Ministry Requests Rs. 43.6 Billion Development Budget for Upcoming Fiscal Year
The Ministry of IT & Telecom has put forward preliminary proposals for its Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) budget for the next fiscal year, seeking Rs. 43.65 billion to fund 18 key projects.
Among the proposed allocations, Rs. 3.42 billion is designated for six projects under the Special Communications Organization (SCO), while Rs. 2.83 billion is intended for seven initiatives by the Pakistan Software Export Board. Moreover, Rs. 11.46 billion has been earmarked for three significant IT projects, and Rs. 249 million is proposed for a National Telecommunication and Information Security Board (NTISB) project.
Additionally, the ministry has requested Rs. 1 billion to expand cellular services in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, aiming to boost tourism in these regions. For the Islamabad IT Park project, Rs. 9.85 billion has been sought for the next fiscal year.
Further funding requests include Rs. 1.5 billion for the Digital Economy Enhancement Project and Rs. 250 million for the Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan initiative. The ministry is also seeking Rs. 2.47 billion for its IT Startups Support Program for 2025-26.
