Four Islamabad Hotels Licensed to Sell Alcohol Under Strict Conditions
Islamabad, August 8, 2025 — The Ministry of Interior has officially confirmed that four prominent hotels in the capital—Marriott, Serena, Best Western, and Mövenpick—are permitted to sell alcohol under regulated conditions.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, responding in writing during the National Assembly’s Question Hour, revealed that these hotels hold valid licenses issued by the Excise Department. The initial license fee is set at Rs. 500,000, while the annual renewal fee stands at Rs. 150,000.
📋 Licensing Conditions Include:
• Alcohol must be stored separately from other goods.
• Hotels must notify the relevant officer within seven days of receiving any liquor consignment.
• The excise officer reserves the right to cancel the license without providing a reason.
This disclosure comes amid broader discussions on regulatory transparency and tourism-related hospitality standards in Pakistan.
