China Sets 2025 GDP Growth Target at 5%, Emphasizes Key Development Goals

China has set a target for its GDP to grow by approximately 5% in 2025, according to its latest government work report. The plan also highlights several key development goals for the year, such as maintaining an urban unemployment rate of around 5.5%, creating over 12 million new urban jobs, and achieving a roughly 2% increase in the consumer price index.

With a 5% economic expansion in 2024, China remains one of the fastest-growing economies globally, adding economic output comparable to that of a mid-sized country. The question now is whether 2025 will bring even stronger momentum for the nation’s growth.
