Apple Unveils iPhone 17 and Ultra-Slim iPhone Air
Apple has officially launched the iPhone 17 lineup at its September 2025 keynote, headlined by the debut of the iPhone 17 Air—Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever at just 5.6mm. The new series introduces brighter displays, upgraded performance, improved cameras, and a refreshed design direction.
Design and Display
The iPhone 17 features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with ProMotion 120Hz, adaptive refresh rates, and Always-On display support—marking a first for non-Pro models. Protected by Ceramic Shield 2, the panel offers 3x better scratch resistance and outdoor peak brightness up to 3,000 nits. It comes in Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White, and Black.
The star of the launch, the iPhone 17 Air, replaces the “Plus” model and sports a 6.5-inch LTPO OLED display with ProMotion and Ceramic Shield 2. Despite its ultra-slim build, it delivers the same 3,000-nit brightness and comes in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue.
Performance and Software
The iPhone 17 runs on the new A19 chip with a 3nm design, supported by the Apple N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity. It ships with iOS 26, fully compatible with Apple Intelligence.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is powered by the more advanced A19 Pro chip, offering performance Apple claims rivals the MacBook Pro. It also introduces the C1X modem for faster speeds and energy efficiency.
Cameras
The iPhone 17 now carries dual 48MP rear cameras, including a wide sensor with 2x optical zoom and an ultrawide lens with macro support. The new Bright Style in iOS 26 boosts color vibrancy and skin tone accuracy.
The iPhone Air, constrained by its slim profile, includes a single 48MP wide sensor but adds an 18MP front camera with Center Stage tracking for video calls.
Battery and Pricing
The iPhone 17 promises up to 30 hours of video playback, with 50% charge in 20 minutes via the new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter. Pricing starts at $799 (256GB).
The iPhone Air offers “all-day” battery life, extendable with a MagSafe battery pack that delivers up to 40 hours playback. It starts at $999 (256GB).
Both devices are expected to launch in Pakistan soon.
