Apple Reveals iPad 2025 with Enhanced A16 Chip and Increased Storage

Apple has unveiled the eleventh-generation iPad (2025) along with its latest iPad Air models, offering subtle improvements over its predecessor. While the design remains unchanged, the new iPad now boasts a lower-power version of the A16 chip, increased base storage, and Bluetooth 5.3 support.

Design and Display

The iPad (2025) retains the design of its 2022 predecessor, featuring an 11-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD with a 60Hz refresh rate. Although it provides a bright and clear viewing experience, it lacks the ProMotion feature, meaning users will not benefit from the smoother 120Hz refresh rate available in higher-end iPads.

The Touch ID sensor remains integrated into the power button, and the flat-edged aluminum frame continues to maintain its modern look. The device is available in four colors: Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow.

Internals and Software

Powered by a modified version of the A16 chip, first seen in the iPhone 14 Pro series, the iPad (2025) features a binned version with one fewer CPU and GPU core, resulting in slightly lower performance compared to its smartphone counterpart. Although Apple has not disclosed the exact RAM capacity, it is likely less than 8GB, as this model does not support Apple Intelligence. A significant upgrade is the increase in base storage, now starting at 128GB, up from the previous generation's 64GB option. Additionally, the device now supports Bluetooth 5.3, replacing Bluetooth 5.2 for better connectivity with newer accessories.

Camera

The iPad (2025) retains the dual 12MP camera system, suitable for video calls, document scanning, and casual photography. No major enhancements have been introduced in this area.

Battery and Pricing

Apple has not specified any changes to the battery, suggesting users can expect similar "all-day battery life" as the previous generation. The iPad (2025) continues to charge via USB-C. Pricing starts at $349/€399/£329 for the Wi-Fi-only model, while the cellular version costs $499/€569/£479. Pre-orders are available now, with deliveries starting on March 12.
